Meet Areon: The Warrior Who Stands by Arys’s Side

“I’m not the hero. I just make sure she lives long enough to become one.”

In the heart of a rebellion shaped by prophecy and shadow, there is one name spoken with equal parts reverence and mystery: Areon. He is the phantom blade, the unseen shield, and the one who never fails to return—until the day he almost doesn’t.

But Areon is not the brooding, arrogant warrior trope you think you know. His story is one of sacrifice, survival, and the slow, painful journey toward seeing himself as more than just a weapon.

The Silent Shield

Areon doesn’t lead with bravado. He leads with presence. Broad-shouldered and battle-scarred, with storm grey eyes that see far more than he lets on, Areon is a deadly warrior. But behind the stoic exterior is a man who never chose to become a legend—he simply had no one left to die for.

Raised by his aunt and uncle after his parents fell in battle, Areon was forged in loss. But it wasn’t just his family he lost—Areon once loved deeply. And that love was torn from him during Elborix’s brutal rise to power. Her death shattered something inside him, replacing grief with quiet fury. But that fury didn’t consume him — it sharpened him. He turned inward, channeling the pain into discipline, and dedicated himself to mastering the most elusive and dangerous form of Táravesta: teleportation.

Over years of tireless study and sacrifice, Areon learned to bend space and traverse entire worlds — a feat so rare it bordered on myth. That mastery made him the only one capable of retracing Lady Katerina’s path to the human world, where Arys had been hidden for an unknown span of time, shielded by the rift between realms. His grief became his drive, and in doing so, he fulfilled the forgotten part of the prophecy — the one that spoke of a warrior who could cross between worlds to retrieve the heir.

His desire to eliminate Elborix is more than political—it’s personal. That loss drove him to master the most dangerous and complex magic in existence: teleportation across realms. It nearly broke him, but it gave him the power to do the impossible—cross the boundaries between worlds and bring Arys home.

He doesn’t fear death. He expects it.

And then he meets Arys.

From Duty to Something More

When Areon is tasked with retrieving Arys from the human world, he treats it like any other mission—a task to complete, a person to protect. But Arys is nothing like he expected. She challenges him. Sees through him. Refuses to let him disappear behind duty.

Their connection is immediate and undeniable—a pull neither of them can explain. But where most stories might leap to romance, theirs burns slowly, built on trust, conflict, and unspoken understanding.

He was the soldier. She was the heir. But somewhere in the silence between them, a bond was forged stronger than steel.

Their relationship doesn’t erupt into being as is so often seen in YA romantic tropes— it simmers. Built moment by moment, it grows in the long silences between battles, the quiet watching of each other’s backs, and the emotional gravity of near-death experiences. Areon, ever composed and disciplined, keeps his feelings buried under layers of duty and self-denial. For him, love is not a luxury — it’s a risk. And after the loss he’s endured, it’s a risk he isn’t sure he can afford again.

But Arys changes that. Not through dramatic confessions, but by seeing him — truly seeing him — in ways no one else has. She notices the tension behind his rare smiles, the vulnerability behind his confidence. And inevitably, Areon begins to see himself differently.

Scene Excerpt:
Their connection grows in unexpected ways — not just in battle or training, but in quiet, unguarded moments when fear takes over and words slip out.

One night, Arys spirals — overwhelmed by the realization that she’s lost track of time completely. She doesn’t know how long she’s been in Elnorsia. Doesn’t know if she missed her twentieth birthday. Doesn’t even know if the people she left behind are still alive.
She’s breathing too fast. Her thoughts are racing.
And Areon, half-asleep beside her, somehow senses it immediately.
He doesn’t rush. Doesn’t ask her to explain. Instead, he opens one eye and mutters, dry as ever:
“…So, you’re ancient.”
It’s ridiculous. It’s inappropriate. And it’s exactly what she needs.
Somehow, that one absurd comment cuts through the panic. It grounds her. He doesn’t flirt — he disarms. Even half-awake, his instinct is to find the thread that will pull her back to herself.

What forms between them is not fragile — it’s forged in fire, battle-tested, and made stronger by every moment they survive together. He doesn’t just want her to live — he wants to live, too. Not as a weapon resigned to die in Elborix’s war, and not as a grieving man chasing ghosts — but as someone who can stand beside Arys as her equal, her protector, her consort. His purpose evolves: no longer driven by vengeance or sacrifice, but by the quiet, unwavering commitment to help rebuild what Elborix destroyed. Not to rule, but to support. To serve the realm not through command, but through loyalty — as the steady flame beside the storm.

Will he continue to fight as a ghost, or finally lay his past to rest — choosing instead to live as a man with someone to live for, and a purpose greater than he ever imagined?

Why Areon’s Story Matters

Areon’s story matters for so many reasons — not just because of who he is, but because of what he’s endured, what he’s mastered, and what he makes possible for others. He’s the quiet rock that helps Arys rise — not through command, but through steadfast, irreplaceable support. He doesn’t seek power, but he has more of it than most ever realize.

He is one of the few in all of Elnorsia to master Táravesta, the ancient and nearly impossible art of teleportation. Most won’t even attempt it. Fewer still survive the effort. But Areon’s grief, discipline, and need to protect those he loves forged him into a living weapon — one capable of pulling others from danger in the blink of an eye, and delivering surgical strikes in places no other fighter could reach.

For decades, he shaped the rebellion from the shadows — leading critical missions, gathering intelligence, and becoming the blade others could always count on. When he left to find Arys, his absence was a blow the rebellion never fully recovered from. Many believed he was lost for good. Few could understand how deep his impact had been… until he returned.

And though he would never claim the spotlight, Areon plays a role larger than even he understands — a role that echoes into the future. There are hints of a legacy tied to his name, a continuation of something still unwritten. For readers who love emotionally rich warriors, unshakable loyalty, and the promise of more to come… Areon’s journey is only just beginning.
